Seniors College
2025

This October, we hosted a presentation for the Seniors College of Prince Edward Island. We discussed what a watershed is and the hydrological cycle, demonstrated how groundwater flows with a groundwater simulator, and took a walk down to the Tracadie Bay shoreline to talk about how bays are formed and how they benefit humans and wildlife. A great way to spend a beautiful fall morning!

Birds of Glenaladale: Heading South
2024

Did you know that 85% of birds that spend their summers in PEI leave Canada for the fall and winter? Ornithologist, Dr. Kathy Martin, lead a walk to the shores of Tracadie Bay to see birds that were gathering or stopping over on PEI from local and further north locations where they spent the summer. Many of these birds spend their winters in the southern USA, Central America and South America. After the field trip, Kathy gave an illustrated talk revealing the many ways that birds undertake these extensive journeys in the fall.
